Description
WAUKESHA, WI— Goodwill will no longer accept donations of furniture or large exercise equipment, according to the Goodwill website.
The new policy took effect on Monday.
Those items will no longer be available for purchase, effective Dec. 1., the website said.
Goodwill has a Waukesha location at 1400 Nike Dr.
"It's hard to say "no thank you" to a donation when those donations help to fund Goodwill programs. However, we do need to refuse some items for being non-recyclable or containing hazardous materials. Other times, the item must be refused because it costs more to transport, repair or refurbish than it can be sold for in our stores," the website said.
The website said it can't accept:
Mattresses and bed framesDesks or other office furnitureTables of any kind Dressers, bookcases, entertainment centers, etc. Chairs, stools, or couchesLarge exercise equipmentPianos or organsCRT TVs and CRT Computer Monitors Large appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, stoves/ovens and washers/dryers.Goodwill still accepts gently used clothing, shoes, jewelry, winter accessories, books and more.
