North Andover Seeks Resident Input On 'Complete Streets' Plan

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — North Andover officials are seeking public input as the town prepares its Complete Streets Prioritization Plan. In May, the Select Board the town's "Complete Streets" policy, part of a state program geared toward "supporting safe and accessible street design for all modes of transportation." The town recently hired engineering consultant TEC, Inc. to help develop the town's Complete Streets Prioritization Plan. The state program, which began in 2016, provides planning grants up to $50,000 and construction grants up to $400,000 for work to build streets that "accommodate all modes, abilities and ages." "To develop this plan, the Town needs public input on which street improvements should be prioritized to accommodate pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular traffic," the town said. "An in-person public meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 17th at 6:30 p.m. in the North Andover Senior Center behind Town Hall. Masks are required for this event." "This event will include a brief presentation on how the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Complete Streets Funding Program works," the town said. "The presentation will be followed by public input activities to identify problem areas on streets around town and devise solutions to be included in the Complete Streets Prioritization Plan. The public's input makes a difference because the completed Prioritization Plan will make the Town eligible for funding to build the street improvements being proposed."
