WISCONSIN — Aaron Rodgers, star quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, multiple news outlets, including in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reported. Rodgers will miss the game against the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday. He will be replaced by Jordan Love, the remaining healthy Packers quarterback. Rodgers said he was immunized against the virus at a news conference in August. Coach Matt LaFleur said he was confident in his team's ability to follow safety protocols, according to the Journal Sentinel. A source confirmed to the paper that Rodgers is not vaccinated. The league rules say he must quarantine for at least 10 days, according to ESPN. The NFL hasn't punished Rodgers for violating any protocols, LaFleur added, according to the Journal Sentinel report. The quarterback petitioned the NFL to consider an alternate treatment he received as the same as being vaccinated, ESPN reported. The league ruled Rodgers wouldn't get the same consideration and would be regarded as being unvaccinated.
