NEWTON, MA —Newton Mayor Ruthanne Fuller has won the city's mayoral race against Amy Mah Sangiolo and will lead the city for another four years. Fuller, who was elected in 2017 as the city's first woman mayor, emailed her supporters just before 10 p.m. Tuesday to tell them the news. "I am so grateful to all of you," said Fuller in a statement. "Thank you for working hard with me on this campaign. Thank you for believing in me and in our shared vision for Newton. Thank you for loving this good City and supporting each other during COVID-19. To our neighbors who lost someone, our hearts are with you." "All of us are so lucky to live in a city with so many people who are civic minded," she continued. "I promise to be a Mayor for all of Newton. No matter who you voted for across all of the races, I pledge to continue to listen carefully and empathetically to each one of you. From Auburndale to Nonantum and Upper Falls to Oak Hill Park and everywhere in between, I will always hear your voice."
