Here are the top stories today in Spokane: Spokane Mayor, Nadine Woodward, released her final budget proposal for 2022. According to the city's website, the goals of this budget are to maintain service levels, invest in economic recovery, and prioritize public safety. One prime focus is on reducing rates of homelessness. Woodward intends to transition people out of homelessness by improving system resources, introducing greater accountability into the system, and maximizing regional partnerships. Spokane County's Medical Examiner has already reported more than 50 Fentanyl overdose deaths, with many fearing that number will continue to grow. One local hip-hop artist, who admits he used to have a serious drug problem, says he knows he easily could have been one of those statistics. He and a fellow artist wrote a song about Fentanyl in hopes it can somehow educate and warn potential users.
