Description

Dr. John Hartig -Presentation and Q & A about Detroit's Freshwater Heritage and Future Its not every day that one gets a chance to meet the scientists of urban design, or natural resource conservation, focused on Detroit's riverfront, and the Great Lakes. But that is what we are making possible at this fun, free event on Saturday afternoon, 11/20 in Eastern Market - at the Development Gallery and Lounge within the Loft Warehouse offices in the FD Lofts. Come out and meet Dr. John Hartig, PhD., a visiting Scientist at the University of Windsor, and a Board member of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. The vision is that all residents and visitors of southeast Michigan are connected to and benefit from world-class freshwater, wildlife, recreation, and heritage right in our backyard through the Great Lakes Way. The Great Lakes Way is 160 miles of greenways and 156 miles of water trails to create a regional trail of national significance. Dr. John Hartig is currently a Visiting Scholar at the Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Research at the University of Wiindsor. The focus of his multi-disciplinary research is cleanup of the most polluted areas of Great Lakes. John also serves as the Great Lakes Science-Policy Adviser for the International Association for Great Lakes Research and on the Board of Directors of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy.
