UPDATE: The New Haven Register reports that long-time GOP First Selectman James Zeoli has won a ninth-term of office on election night. Zeoli was up by nearly 1,000 votes in the unofficial vote tally over his challenger Connor Deane, a Democrat. (Read more at the New Haven Register). Results had not be released in a number of other local races as of midnight. ORANGE, CT — The polls have closed in Orange and the votes are being counted to determine numerous key races, including first selectman, selectmen, town clerk, tax collector and spots on the Board of Education and Board of Finance. Republican First Selectman James Zeoli is running for another term against Democratic challenger Connor Deane. For selectmen, the candidates are Democrats Mitchell Goldblatt, Rosanna Cappetta and Charles Flynn and Republicans Judy Wright Williams, Ralph Okenquist and John Carangelo. The candidates for town clerk are Democrat Margaret Novicki and Republican Mary Shaw. The candidates for tax collector are Mark Moyher, a Democrat, and Thomas Hurley, a Republican. For the Board of Finance, the candidates are Democrats Kevin McNabola, P.J. Shanley and Pat Sanders Romano and Republicans Ajeet Jain and Joseph Nuzzo. The Democratic candidates for the Board of Education are Carmen Rodrigues, Jared Millbrandt and Liz Tremper. The Republican candidates are Jeffery Cap, Tatiana Messina-Mullen and Ronnette James. For the planning and zoning commission, the candidates are Democrats Daniel Fitzmaurice and Michael Muttitt and Republicans Ozzie Parente and Kevin Cornell. Additionally, Republican Thomas Torrenti is running to fill a vacancy on the commission for two years. The candidates for constables are Democrats Santo Galatioto Jr., Randy Thomas and Jay Carrier and Republicans Glenn Papelo, Jody Daymon, Dan Zapatka and Michael Donadeo. The candidates for Amity Regional Board of Education are Democrats Patricia C.-Post, Carla Eichler and Craig Lennon and Republicans Sean Hartshorn and Christina Levere-D'Addio.
