PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A 32-year-old Washington, D.C., man has been arrested in connection with the Oct. 30 fatal shooting of 44-year-old Phillip Brown of Bowie. Shortly before midnight Oct. 30, officers were called to the 9800 block of Good Luck Road for a reporting of a shooting. They found Brown in a parking lot of a VFW Post with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. According to the police department, Brown and Damon Sams were arguing. Brown was working as a security guard at a private event at the VFW Post when Sams shot him. Another private security guard fired back at Sams who walked into a hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Sams has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and assault charges. He currently is in custody in Washington, D.C., pending extradition to Prince George's County.
