Here are the top stories in San Diego today: Mayor Todd Gloria traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in the 2021 Aspen Security Forum β an annual national security and foreign policy conference β where he will speak about the city's actions on climate change. The trip comes days after his announcement of the city's "Our Climate, Our Future" climate action initiative. (City News Service)Seven people, including a child, were injured when two cars collided on a Lincoln Park street and one of them careened off the roadway and plowed into a cafe in San Diego. (City News Service)The San Diego County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a long-term plan, including community partnerships, to tackle the growing homelessness crisis. (City News Service)The San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 to keep a vaccine mandate for new employees in place, following a lengthy and occasionally contentious public hearing. In August, the county adopted a policy requiring existing employees to either be fully vaccinated or take weekly COVID-19 tests. The mandate for vaccines applies to new county hires.
