Welcome to the Sacramento Daily Patch Newsletter! This is where you will find all of the best news and events happening in Sacramento for Thursday November 4th, 2021! First, today's weather: Clouds giving way to sun. High: 71 Low: 48. Here are the top stories today in Sacramento: Sacramento police say they responded to reports of seven different burglaries overnight Tuesday night. The burglaries took place in the areas of J and L streets, between 10th and 12th streets, right across from the Capitol building. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Sacramento PD at 916-808-5471. (Good Day Sacramento)Police said Tuesday they were investigating a sexual assault involving a kindergartner who attends a South Sacramento elementary school. The 5-year-old's family says the child came home and told her mother she had been touched inappropriately. "Detectives are conducting follow up on the circumstances of the incident. Due to the sensitive nature of the allegations, we are unable to provide further details at this time. The Sacramento Police Department is working with school staff on the investigation," wrote Public Information Officer Sgt. Sabrina Briggs. (FOX40)More wet weather is expected to arrive in Northern California with heavier rainfall projected to come by Sunday. Two storms are pushing into the region. The mid-week system is expected to come and go quickly Thursday, but a larger system will roll into the region just a few days later. The second system could bring around 1.5 inches of rain to Sacramento with even greater precipitation further north and in the Sierra, which is also expected to see more snow. (CBS Sacramento)Holiday shoppers have just over a month to get their priority mail presents on the way to loved ones serving overseas in the U.S. military. The deadline to send them is Dec. 9. For those who want their presents to get where they need to be by Christmas morning, USPS recommends sending them by the following dates, sorted by mail type: send first class cards and letters by Dec. 17; send priority mail items by Dec. 18; send priority express mail by Dec. 23. The USPS mail processing and distribution center in West Sacramento added an additional parcel sorting machine which means an additional 625,000 extra pieces can be processed locally per day. "By adding this equipment, we don't have to work the mail manually like we did last year," explained USPS plant manager Renee Jones. "So we'll be able to reduce the amount of time it takes to sort the mail, which will help get it there on time." (FOX40)The City of Sacramento's Office of Arts & Culture, in partnership with a team of local muralists, is hosting a free Community Mural Paint Day on Saturday Nov. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. where community members can participate by helping paint a new mural at Common Grounds Church in the Valley Hi neighborhood. The event will feature live music, an art show, vendor fair and an opportunity to help paint! This event is part of the City's pilot "Community Murals Sacramento" program, which selected 39 local artists to create ten community-based murals across the city.
