Facilities Technician The Denver Waldorf School (DWS) is seeking a qualified candidate to join our faculty and staff as Facilities Technician. This is a full-time position. The Facilities Technician is a member of a team of 2, working closely with the Operations Manager to provide care and maintenance of the DWS facility including both the buildings and grounds at the school’s main campus and satellite location. This position ensures that the facility can operate smoothly in the daily operations, as well as for multiple festivals and out-of-school activities on campus. Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to: Facility and Property Maintenance: • Daily building inspections to assure readiness for the start of school each day • Preparation of shared spaces for events, room use, etc. • Annual or routine inspections of equipment (classroom and building as appropriate) • Identify and manage routine building maintenance items • Repair and maintain building and equipment as needed • Monitor, repair and replace HVAC equipment as needed • Maintain exterior of building and ensure that the entire campus is kept tidy • Manage upkeep and repairs of playgrounds (fencing, mulch, equipment, sand, logs) • Respond to staff work requests in timely manner • Order supplies and materials for facility operations • Provide snow and ice removal coordinating with third party vendor when applicable • Repair and maintain sprinkler system as needed, coordinating with third party vendor • Lawn care, trimming of bushes and trees, weeding, coordinating with third party vendor • Custodial – garbage, compost and recycling removal; environmental clean-up of spills and accidents; organization and supervision of faculty/parent work days Compliance with regulatory agencies and standards: • Coordination with outside regulatory agencies (fire department, OSHA, CDHS) • Annual posting of evacuation routes • Ensure High School chemical lab procedures followed (procedures, disposal) • Ensure that building procedures are followed in accordance with ACIS child protection standards and CDHS • Ensure compliance with CDPHE, CDC and local government recommendation for COVID Administrative Duties: • Assist in scheduling in relation to program and events in the facility • Coordinate with Operations Manager around safety procedures and protocols • Maintain tracking of short and long term maintenance goals, records • Attend Buildings and Grounds Committee meetings, providing updates as needed Requirements: • 2 – 5 years’ experience working in a large facility with deferred maintenance; preferably school • Experience and knowledge of building systems, especially HVAC and plumbing • Able to deal with frequent change and unexpected events; able to think ahead, self-manage, and demonstrate flexibility • Be fully vaccinated for COVID Salary Range: $39,000 - $52,000, depending on experience and knowledge Available benefits: Health, Dental, Long Term Disability, Retirement Plan, FSA and HRA plans, Tuition Remission for one child.
