WHEATON, IL — A coronavirus vaccine clinic for children ages five to 11 years old is planned for Nov. 15 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Wheaton Park District community center, 1777 S. Blanchard St. To receive the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine at this event, children must be five years old or older and accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The second dose of the vaccination will be administered at a subsequent clinic set for Dec. 6 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The kids' vaccine clinic will have vaccinations available to residents regardless of insurance coverage or immigration status, but those with insurance should bring their information. Those who attend are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes before their time slot and go in through the southeast gymnasium door. On Wednesday, Illinois public health officials recommended the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children ages five through 11 years old. The Food and Drug Administration approved the vaccine for children five and older in late October. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended the shot for children in that age group as of Tuesday.
