After abandoning the car on Valley View Road, Miller said Owens left the area on foot, but police and the Morris County Sheriff's Office K9 section, caught up with him later.
In the course of the department's investigation, responding officers found that the car Owens had been driving was recently taken from Kenilworth, Miller said. They also determined after looking at surveillance from a home on Mountainside Drive - Owens had been inside an unknown resident's unlocked car that was in their driveway.
The police department, which reminded residents to keep their car doors locked and take all valuable items from them, said Owens was charged, in addition to burglary, with conspiracy to commit burglary, obstructing the administration of law and unlawful taking by means of conveyance.
