Sex Offender Arrested After Found Working At Elementary School

PLAINFIELD, IL — A registered sex offender from Plainfield was found working in a COVID-19 clinic at a Yorkville elementary school Monday, where he was arrested for violating the sex offender registry, Yorkville police said. Officers from the Yorkville Police Department arrived at Autumn Creek Elementary School around 5:40 p.m. when they found 23-year-old Geovanni Delgado working in the school's gymnasium as part of a COVID-19 testing clinic. It was his first day as an employee of the third-party organization that provides testing to the school district's faculty, according to officials. Police said a group of students were meeting in the school cafeteria at the same time, but there was no known contact between them and Delgado. As a result of the incident, the third-party testing organization will no longer be allowed to provide its own employees for clinics in Yorkville School District facilities, according to police. Officers took Delgado into custody and charged him with being in a prohibited zone as a sex offender, a felony crime. Delgado was taken to the Kendall County jail. In May 2018, the Plainfield resident faced misdemeanor charges of criminal sexual abuse that stemmed from a relationship he was said to be having with a 14-year-old teenager. RELATED: Plainfield 19-Year-Old Charged With Sex Abuse Delgado was also arrested in February 2017 and charged with assault. The charge was later dropped after he completed a H.E.A.R.T. (Helping, Enriching, Advising, Reaching and Teaching) program. But a month later, he was charged with violating an order of protection against an 18-year-old Plainfield woman, Patch reported. In February 2018, Delgado pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 58 days in jail.
