Highwood Man Killed After Car Submerges Into Water In Northbrook

NORTHBROOK, IL — A 42-year-old Highwood man died Tuesday afternoon following a single-car accident on Interstate 94 at Dundee Road, near Northbrook. The man's name is being withheld at this time pending next-of-kin notification. He was driving his 2016 black Land Rover Discovery at around 3:30 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle, driving off the right side of the roadway, according to Illinois State Police. The car was submerged in approximately three feet of water. The driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. This is a developing story.
