Democrat Rebecca Bancroft, a retired small business owner, is running against Republican John Burke, a former Newtown Borough councilman.
Bancroft has been focusing on safety for residents of the Borough.
"After speaking to neighbors throughout the borough, I have heard many concerns about traffic, pedestrian safety and community policing issues, as well as better council/constituent communication," Bancroft said. "These are the real, current issues."
Burke was endorsed by current mayor Charles F. Swartz III.
Burke has been campaigning on bringing the community together during the socio-political divide much of the country is facing.
"Newtown Borough is the epitome of small-town America – a place where people put aside politics and partisan bickering to address issues that affect every resident," Burke said in the Bucks County Herald. "That is what I did as a council member and constable, and what I promise to do as mayor."
