NEWTOWN, PA — The GOP is projected to take a seat on the Council Rock School Board, as Republican Kristin Marcell holds a strong lead over Democratic candidate Nicole Khan. Khan took to her campaign page on Facebook to share her thoughts on the race, writing a post thanking her supporters, voters, volunteers, and fellow Democrats on Wednesday, Nov. 3. Marcell is currently leading the race at 1,435, with Khan at 1,403. "I could not have predicted what the last 8 months was going to bring into my life when I chose to run for school board," Khan said. "It has been an incredible journey of learning, growing, hard work and perseverance. I did not win a seat at the table but I won in many other ways." Get local news updates right to your inbox. A former teacher, this was Khan's first foray into politics. Toward the end of her statement, she congratulated Republican Kristin Marcell, the current School Board Director to the Council Rock School District, who is currently 32 votes ahead of Khan. "Congratulations to all the candidates who ran. I would like to congratulate my opponent Kristin Marcell. I wish her success as she continues her next term serving the community of Council Rock." She ended the statement by discussing the positive aspects of her campaign. Khan's campaign was recently the subject of media coverage after several political signs of hers were either spray painted or destroyed in acts of vandalism; Marcell condemned the actions in a Facebook post on her campaign page. "It was an experience I will never forget. I have no regrets, I am proud of all that was accomplished and look forward to the future," Khan said.
