Description
MISSION VIEJO, CA — If you're sitting on a pile of e-waste in Mission Viejo, get the trunk of your car loaded: The City of Mission Viejo is hosting a free drive-through e-waste and household hazardous waste collection on Nov. 13. The event is designed to provide residents with a free, safe and convenient way to properly dispose of hazardous items.
Hazardous items are products that are flammable, corrosive, reactive or toxic. These products are dangerous to both the public and the environment, and require proper disposal as it is illegal to dump hazardous waste in a trash container.
Acceptable items for drop-off include pool chemicals, household cleaners, garden chemicals, paint products and thinners, thermometers, fluorescent light bulbs and tubes, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and electronic items. However, leave your sharps, ammunition, large appliances and explosives at home — those items will not be accepted at the drive-through, among others.
To participate, proof of residency is required with a valid identification card. Residents must remain in their vehicles at all times.
The free drive-through e-waste and household hazardous waste collection takes place Nov. 13 in the City Hall parking lot from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. For more information, email [email protected] or call 949-470-3056.
