MILL VALLEY, CA — Tamalpais High is readying for a pivotal Marin County Athletic League showdown with major title implications. The Red-tailed Hawks play on the road against perennial North Bay power Marin Catholic on Saturday at 2 p.m. With a victory, Tamalpais (6-3, 5-1 MCAL) could be part of a tie for first place involving up to three teams. Marin Catholic (8-1, 4-0 MCAL) currently owns sole possession of first place. The Red-tailed Hawks are coming off a wild 36-26 loss to San Marin (8-1, 5-1) in which sophomore quarterback Braden Young was 21-for-28 passing for 355 yards and three touchdowns and one interception. Tamalpais running back Sebastian Chen rushed for 139 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries. The Red-tailed Hawks' senior has rushed for over 100 yards in five of his eight games. Marin Catholic is coming off a 49-0 thrashing of Novato in an Oct. 30 MCAL game, the Wildcats' fifth straight win. Marin Catholic has outscored its four league opponents 170-21.
