WESTTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Westtown-East Goshen's 2019 Officer of the Year has died of COVID-related illness, leaving behind a wife and two children, the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department said on Monday.
"It is with a very heavy heart that the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department must announce that last night WEGO Police Officer Josh Micun passed away from a COVID- related illness," news statement from the Department read.
Micun began his career with WEGO in June of 2015 as a part-time Patrol Officer and was quickly promoted to full-time in March of 2016. In 2019, Josh was chosen by his peers as WEGO Officer of the Year, the Department said.
Micun leaves behind his wife Amanda and two children, Hayden, 16, and Sophia, 10.
His fellow officers said he is remembered as a person who always had a smile on his face and who loved to make others laugh.
"Officer Micun was a 'foodie' who loved to prepare delicious meals for others and post photos of his creations. Officer Micun took great pride in presenting a professional image regardless of whether he was in uniform or civilian attire in court," the Department's statement recalled.
"Micun and his family have a long history of commitment to community service, but Officer Micun's priority was always his family and friends," the Department said, adding, "Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."
