JOLIET, IL — Joliet officers arrested Corey Rice, a 27-year-old Chicago man, and a 27-year-old homeless man from Joliet following a gun disturbance at the Riverwalk Homes in the 300 block of North Broadway Street, according to police. Rice was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and criminal trespass. The other man with him, Jimmy Johnson, of Joliet, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, criminal trespass and obstructing a peace officer. The incident that drew Joliet police to North Broadway Street was reported around 2:50 p.m. Officers were told that two men entered the apartment building complex with a gun. Rice and Johnson were inside a fourth-floor apartment unit, at a window, yelling at other people at the property, according to police reports. "Officers could hear a disturbance happening inside of the apartment, but Johnson and Rice refused to answer the door," police spokesman Dwayne English indicated. Several minutes, Joliet police arrested Rice and Johnson when they exited the apartment. The apartment tenant and her three children were discovered in the apartment and they were not hurt, police said. "Upon search of the apartment, Officers recovered a handgun from a hole in the wall in the bathroom," Joliet police announced. Mugshot via Joliet police
