Police Release Halloween Traffic Enforcement Campaign Results

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A law enforcement campaign that began on Oct. 16 has ended with a number of arrests and citations for Arlington Heights police. During the Halloween Traffic Enforcement Campaign police arrested one impaired driver, one person for illegal transportation of cannabis, issued 58 seat belt and child safety seat citations, 28 distracted driving citations and 40 other citations for Illinois Vehicle Code violations, according to a news release. These numbers only reflect enforcement actions funded by Illinois Department of Transportation — Sustained Traffic Enforcement Project. Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in this effort to save lives by getting impaired drivers off the roads and more motorists buckled up. The enforcement campaign took place from Oct. 16 through Nov. 1. Violation Of A Stalking Order Leads To Arrest: Arlington Heights Blotter Extra emphasis was placed on enforcement during late-night hours, when statistics show the most unbuckled and impaired driving fatalities occur, according to the news release. The recent law enforcement campaign was made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
