Description
IFF PRESENTS NETFLIX'S PASSING IFF is excited to present an advance screening of Netflix’s PASSING - directed by Rebecca Hall, based on the novel by Nella Larsen, and starring Tessa Thompson, Ruth Negga & André Holland. Variety described the film as “a superbly performed study of racialized longing and feminine dissatisfaction in 1920s New York, lit by searing intelligence and compassion.” PASSING tells the story of mixed-race childhood friends who reunite in middle class adulthood and become increasingly involved in each other's lives and insecurities. While Irene identifies as African-American and is married to a Black doctor, Clare "passes" as white and has married a prejudiced, wealthy white man. Their renewed acquaintance ignites a mutual obsession that threatens both of their carefully constructed realities. There will be a post-film discussion hosted by I.F.F. and B.O.M.B.S, which all audience members will be welcome to join - more information to come. FREE and open to the public. Seating is first come first served.
