How has the role of "family" influenced American history? You may be surprised how much power the family unit actually holds!
The Role Family has Played Throughout U.S. HistoryWhether it was native tribes or European settlers, "family" has been a stabilizing aspect of life in the Americas for generations. From the second year after the establishment of the Jamestown colony to today’s immigrant famliies, the emphasis on strong family units has been encouraged through local traditions and subsidized by national tax policies.
What makes the American family unique is its dynamic combination of constant migration, evolution, adaptation, and intermarriage.
There have been plenty of bumps, challenges, and sad events (treatment of slave families amongst the worst) throughout our history, but the unique strength of the American family remains a critical part of the USA’s national DNA.
November's presentation will cover the centuries of family dynamics that have contributed to America’s rise as the most powerful nation on earth.
If attending the event in person, please bring a dessert to share!
