Description
The Thanksgiving table is notoriously hard to pair with wine as flavors range from savory gravy to sweet potato casserole, what to do? A B O U T The Thanksgiving table can be tricky to pair wine with as many things have to be carefully balanced... flavors can vary for savoury (turkey, giblet gravy, smoky greens) to rich (mac-n-cheese, buttery mashed potatoes) to sweet (sweet potato casserole, tart cranberry) - nevermind that Aunt Betty only likes big reds and Grandpa Joe swears by red. What do do? Fret not! In this Seminar we tackle the subject with an array of fabulous wines versatile enough for anyoen's holiday table! We'll tackle the Five Rules for Thanksgiving wine and show-off some of our favorite picks! 10% off all wines if you attend @ J's Bottle Shop 5 - R U L E S F O R T H A N K S G I V I N G W I N E S 1) Delight and Surprise (not Shock and Awe): A holiday party or a casual dinner with friends is not the greatest context to bring out that weirdo wine you’ve been wanting to shock people with. Stick to wines that are crowd-pleasers and will delight your gests with their wide likability. This is also not the time for $3000 bottle of Bordeaux, keep it convivial. 2) Plays well with others: From pimento-cheese to shrimp-toast, your wine selections needs to be versatile enough to not be out of place with some of the foods being served (and if you’re the guest, and don’t know what’s on offer, this is doubly important). With reds think light to medium bodied aromatic wines made from gamay, barbera, and bigger more structured whites. 3) Keep it Fresh: Keep em coming for more! Opt for wines that lave the palate freshened up thus leaving the drinker wanting for more. No oak-bomb wines (unless it’s a white- oaky/full-bodied wines are perfect for this) 4) Size can matter: A party is the perfect opportunity to opt for larger formats, and I DON’T mean a 1.5 liter of grocery-store hogwash either. They make an impression and no one will be trying to squeeze the bottle for more juice. 5) Always Bubbles: Because what’s more festive? Seriously? A party is the perfect occasion—uncork, sip, and have some fun. We have one mission: to take the mystery out of wine, without stripping away its magic.
