Individual Posed As Public Utilities Worker, County Warns

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — A county resident was approached by someone claiming to work with Sarasota County and asking to inspect their water, Sarasota County Public Utilities shared on Facebook. The department warned residents that its staff will never approach residents at their homes to perform a water inspection unless it's been called about a concern. If the county does need a sample of water from any property, this will be done outside of the home and staff won't need to go inside, the department said. All Sarasota County employees will wear identification, so residents are encouraged to ask to see their ID badge.
