NATICK, MA — Two Natick brothers who served in the Marines during Vietnam will have a square dedicated in their name ahead of Veterans Day on Nov. 11. The Select Board on Wednesday will hold a public hearing to create the Kaufman Family Square at the corner of East Central Street (Route 135) and Penacook Lane east of downtown Natick. Robert J. Kaufman went to Vietnam in August, 1969, and earned the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Rifle Marksman Badge and the National Defense Service Ribbon. Bruce Kaufman, who is now deceased, went to Vietnam in April, 1965, and earned the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Rifle Marksman Badge. The Select Board plans to read a proclamation in their name ahead of the formal square dedication on Nov. 6. Natick has dozens of squares named after local service members.
