You may already possess a background in distribution operations to include warehousing, inventory control and shipping, or you may be a seasoned shift manager within the high-volume food industry like coffee houses or restaurants. You will report to the on-site Operations Manager and collaborate with the other distribution centers The Warehouse Shift Supervisor is a hands-on supervisory role and will lead by example. In addition to supporting the day shift, the Warehouse Shift Supervisor may oversee all operations through our evening shipping times; currently until 11PM. You will assist in interviewing potential candidates and refining the warehouse space utilization plan, followed quickly by scaling up the quantity of our daily shipments and laying the groundwork to handle future growth. While self-motivation and leadership skills are essential to success, it is equally important to have exceptional communication and teamwork skills for continuous communication and collaboration with the team. Key responsibilities include: • Directing and guiding your assigned crew with regards to all aspects of processing and shipping orders to our customers including picking, packing, and shipping orders; receiving and stocking inventory; quality assurance, processing returns; stocking supplies; etc. Our goal is to ship all orders received on the same day. • Support and help drive Lean operational excellence throughout this location. • Possess the operational understanding and leadership skills to be able to oversee the entire operations when the Operations Manager is out of office • Assist in implementing Lean thinking and processes throughout the company. • Interviewing, training, and motivating a highly effective warehouse team. • Supporting all aspects of facility management such as maintenance, utilities, installing shelving, etc. • Inventory management – making sure our systems contain highly accurate inventory numbers. • Working with our team to create, implement and continually improve our processes to maximize customer service while keeping costs low. • Work closely with the local Operations Managers to achieve operational goals • Be a true team player who is driven to do what is in the best interest of the organization and committed to helping all World Pantry departments exceed their goals. Qualities and Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes: • A talented operations professional with 5+ years of supervisory experience in a high-volume food service, manufacturing, or distribution environment. If you are a Veteran, we would love to speak with you! • Experienced in Lean techniques centered around 5-S, inventory management, process re-engineering, etc. • An enthusiastic self-starter who is driven to create a smooth-running operation and who works well in a team environment. • A strong desire to learn, improve, and to grow professionally. • The ability to work well independently while keeping the Operations Manager and other key stakeholders apprised of current statuses. • A customer focused orientation and a true desire to do whatever it takes to make customers happy. • The ability to thrive in a small company setting along with the desire and ability to grow into future leadership and managerial roles within World Pantry • Has a passion to help build a world-class company. • Strong analytical skills. Specifically, must be able to create Pivot tables from Excel data sets for reports and possess a general algebra understanding. • Strong oral and written communications skills. • Bachelor's Degree or higher is preferred • Bi-lingual in Spanish and English a plus! • Able to work variable hours including evening and weekends, as necessary.
