STAMFORD, CT — President Joe Biden has approved the State of Connecticut's request for a Major Disaster Declaration to assist residents who have suffered damage as a result of the impact of the remnants of Hurricane Ida in early September. The approval includes the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Individual Assistance Program for Fairfield County, as well as a statewide Hazard Mitigation Grant program. FEMA's Individual Assistance Program provides funding for homeowners, renters, and business owners who have sustained uninsured or under-insured damage to their property. "This FEMA funding will assist our Stamford residents and business owners who have suffered severe damage to their property as a result of Hurricane Ida," said Stamford Mayor David Martin in a news release. "I would like to thank President Biden for recognizing the necessity of this Major Disaster Declaration and FEMA aid, as well as Gov. Ned Lamont, Congressman Jim Himes, and our City of Stamford Officials who did their part and fought to ensure we received this aid. It is my sincere hope that this will help the residents of our City recover the losses caused by this storm."
