ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police arrested a local man in connection with a malicious wounding that occurred early Monday morning at a Shirlington apartment, according to the daily crime report.
Officers responded around 3:37 a.m. for the report of unknown trouble in the 4200 block of 31st Street S. A female witness told the officers that earlier in the morning she and a male companion were invited by a man they met outside a business to come back to his apartment for drinks.
A short while later, the woman and her companion tried to leave the other man's apartment, but he began to hit the man repeatedly, according to police. Eventually, the woman's companion was able to flee the apartment. The officers searched the area but failed to locate the male victim.
Around 4:49 a.m., police responded to the late report of an assault and made contact with the victim from the earlier incident. The man had suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and refused medical transport.
Returning to the suspect's apartment, officers took him into custody. Police charged Travis Michel, 33, of Arlington, with malicious wounding. Michel is being held without bail.
