Description
GREENWICH, CT — After a disaster declaration for Fairfield County was approved by President Joe Biden, Greenwich First Selectman Fred Camillo issued guidance on how residents and businesses in town can apply for federal aid.
Ida caused historical flooding in Greenwich in September. Parts of town saw anywhere between four to eight inches of rain.
Generally, there is a 60-day window to register for disaster assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). To begin the process online, use this link. Assistance also is available by calling the FEMA helpline at 1-800-621-3362, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., seven days a week. The TTY number is 1-800-462-7585.
Here is a link with information on how the application process works. For information on the Individuals and Households assistance programs, which provide financial help or direct services to people with needs that aren't met through other means, use this link.
To help provide as much information as possible, take the time to review the Disaster Resource and Recovery Guide that was organized by the office of U.S. Rep. Jim Himes.
"Thank you all for your patience in this tedious process to obtain the disaster declaration," First Selectman Fred Camillo said Tuesday in a news release. "It is my hope that we all will be able to rebuild a stronger Greenwich."
