Eighth-grader Emely Lopez says she lost her ability to speak her family's language of Spanish over the course of her elementary school years since all the curriculum was in English. QuestBridge, a program that seeks out high-achieving students and helps them get full-ride scholarships, has tagged three Irving High School students as finalists. Out of more than 15,000 students from across the nation who applied to the 2021 QuestBridge College Prep Scholars Program, only 26 percent were accepted.
