Lus Dary DeSouza, 49, and Meeka Poteek Baker, 56, were arrested Oct. 26 after nurses and security officers at St. David's Medical Center at N. Mopac Expressway reported an assault at the hospital. When police arrived, they found two women, who were both wearing blue scrubs and wigs, detained. Officials said the women were impersonating hospital personnel. Authorities said nurses working the floor thought the women were acting strangely and alerted hospital security who were able to locate the suspects. When the security guards stopped the women, one suspect threw down seven credit cards and the other suspect began assaulting the security guards. Police said the security officers were victims of assault on a public servant and three nurses were victims of fraudulent possession of identifying information. Both DeSouza and Baker were booked in Travis County Jail and face multiple felony charges from out-of-state. Following the incident, the stolen credit cards were returned to the victims, police said. Detectives are asking anyone with information of the incident to utilize the Crime Stoppers tip line at 512-472-8477 (TIPS), or the Crime Stoppers app. You may remain anonymous.
