Application deadline is Nov. 7, 2021. Training classes begin Friday, Jan. 7, 2022 Volunteer naturalists help Boulder County Parks & Open Space by leading hikes, presenting slide programs, and providing hands-on experiences to people of all ages. Staff is especially looking for people interested in working with school groups, both on trails and in the classroom. Topics range from wildlife and plants to ecology and geology. As part of the training, volunteers learn about interpretive techniques to connect with audiences. Requirements Volunteer naturalists must be at least 18 years old, pass a background check and an interview, and participate in the 10-week training class. Applicants must also have ongoing weekday availability and commit to helping lead at least six programs in 2022. Previous experience is not necessary – only a desire to share nature with others! Training classes take place on Fridays, Jan. 7 through March 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Longmont.
