SANTA CRUZ, CA — Looking for thrifty fall and winter fun in Santa Cruz? Boardwalk Bowl is offering a free game to anyone who brings in a can of food through Jan. 2. The Strike Out Hunger drive kicked off this month and will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank, which serves Santa Cruz County. Boardwalk Bowl said it helped provide more than 21,000 meals in 2019. Shelf-stable boxed food, such as macaroni and cheese, will also be accepted. Boardwalk Bowl will give away 25 free bowling passes to those who donate $100 to Second Harvest Food Bank. Got plenty of extra, unexpired cans of food lying around? The bowling alley will allow one free game per person, per day. Players must still pay for shoe rentals and free games must be redeemed before 8 p.m. Anyone who redeems their free game after 8 p.m. will receive a five percent discount for each player who brings in a can, for a discount of no more than 30 percent off. Boardwalk Bowl is located across the street from the boardwalk at 115 Cliff St., adjacent to the arcade. It's open from 9 a.m. to midnight. Call to check lane availability at 831-426-3324.
