MARCUS HOOK, PA — Children who were reported missing during a massive warehouse fire in Marcus Hook have been found safe as crews still battle hot spots after the fire broke out Monday afternoon. According to Delaware County Emergency Services, the fire started at about 6 p.m. Monday at an abandoned warehouse on the 200 block of East 10th Street in Marcus Hook. Officials said the fire reached four alarms, and firefighters from Delaware and Chester counties, as well as New Castle County, were called to the scene to quell the fire. Roughly 100 firefighters were on the scene. Action News reports four children were found safe after reportedly being in the building. Officials told the outlet they are unsure why the kids were in the building. NBC10 reports the warehouse was partially under construction, which helped bring the fire to four alarms due to materials and debris inside it. Due to heavy smoke from the fire, residents in the area were urged to stay inside to avoid inhalation injuries. Crews were still on scene as of Tuesday morning battling hotspots from the fire.
