MONROVIA, CA — Cornhole players can test their mettle on Saturday when the Kiwanis Club of Monrovia hosts its inaugural cornhole tournament at the Bowden Development. Teams of two will have a chance to win a cash prize during the competition, and proceeds from the event will go toward the club's scholarship program for local youths. Registration costs $50 per team and $25 per spectator. The cornhole competition is open to people ages 21 and older, the Kiwanis Club said. First place will receive $250, second place $150 and third place $100. All winning teams will receive trophies, the club said. Participants and spectators will be required to wear face-coverings for the event. Temperatures will also be checked before entering the venue, according to the club. The competition will be from 2 to 8 p.m., and the Bowdern Development is at 212 W. Foothill Blvd. Teams can register for the competition on the Kiwanis Club's Eventbrite page.
