Press release from the Champaign Unit 4 School District: 11/01/2021 Central Illinois Business Magazine named Cessily Thomas, a teacher and site coordinator for Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) at Centennial High School and founder of the Champaign-Urbana Black Teachers Alliance, as Woman of the Year as part of its Forty Under 40 Awards. Derrick Cooper, Associate Principal at Central High School, also received recognition as a Forty Under 40 honoree. The awards spotlight outstanding young business professionals based on achievement, experience, innovation, leadership and community involvement.
