TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit says a man was found dead Tuesday morning near a Tuscaloosa railroad crossing after it is believed he was struck by a train. Click here to subscribe to our free Tuscaloosa Daily newsletter and breaking news alerts Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Commander Captain Jack Kennedy told local media that police were called just after midnight to the railroad crossing near the 2600 block of 18th Street, between Jemison Avenue and TY Rogers Jr. Avenue. Kennedy said a passerby reported finding a deceased man's body on the side of the road at the location, which prompted the call out to the multi-agency violent crimes unit to handle the case.
