Hey, neighbors! It's me again, Kathy Cioffi, your host of the Atlanta Daily. First, today's weather: Rather cloudy. High: 57 Low: 46. Here are the top stories today in Atlanta: After 26 years, the Atlanta Braves are World Series champions again. Atlanta defeated the Houston Astros 7-0 in Game 6 Tuesday. Behind Max Fried's standout starting pitching and homers by Jorge Soler, Dansby Swanson and Freddie Freeman, the Braves started strong and never let up. Back home, Braves fans packed the Battery at Truist Park in exuberant celebration. (Atlanta Patch)While results for Atlanta's races for mayor, city council president, city council and school board were slowly coming in Tuesday night, City Council President Felicia Moore had the early unofficial lead in the Atlanta mayoral race and appeared to be headed to a runoff on Nov. 30. Against whom, however, wasn't clear. With 95 percent of Fulton County precincts reporting just after 11 p.m., former Mayor Kasim Reed and City Councilmember Andre Dickens were battling for second place, separated by less than 400 votes. As of midnight, most races weren't decided but Patch will continue to update results Wednesday. (Atlanta Patch)A woman was found shot to death early Tuesday morning at a Citgo gas station on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, although authorities said the shooting itself allegedly occurred about half a mile away on Sandy Creek Road. Fulton County Police Department investigators said the woman left a bar with two men when an argument broke out in the Jeep Wrangler the three appeared to be in, a gun was drawn and a fight over the gun ensued. Police responded to the Citgo after reports of shots fired shortly before 2 a.m. The deceased woman's name has not been released and suspects have not been identified. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the crash happened just before 11:30 p.m. Monday on the 3300 block of Piedmont Road. The 25-year-old APD officer was driving his privately-owned vehicle and turned onto the road, according to the GSP, when 59-year-old Philip Sutter of Irving, Texas, darted into the lane and was hit. The officer remained on the scene and provided first aid, but Sutter did not survive. The officer had not been charged in connection to the crash as of Tuesday afternoon. (FOX 5 Atlanta)The Atlanta Department of City Planning will start the public process for rewriting Atlanta's 40-year-old zoning ordinance today. Expected to take years, the update and revision process, named ATL Zoning 2.0, will give the public an opportunity to learn more about zoning concepts via virtual meetings, or "Idea Labs." Idea Lab meetings are scheduled through mid-December. (What Now Atlanta) Today's Atlanta Daily is brought to you by Newrez. Wondering when a cash-out refinance makes sense financially?
