Description
Hi all! I’m Yana. I’m 32 and have a rich 15 years experience of working as a nanny and personal assistant to numerous families. At this time, I’m transitioning into “personal cheffing” and currently have openings for one-to- several families (of any size) for whom to meal prep on a regular basis. I’m a passionate foodie with across-the-board experience. This includes... ...Cooking and eating seasonally, organically, Ayurvedically, as a vegan and vegetarian, substituting for all kinds of common allergens, from dairy to gluten to FODMAPS and beyond. ...Being very adept at reading and understanding labels, including the explicit as well as what’s between the lines. ...A familiarity with forms of eating from Keto to Paleo to GAPS etc. and perpetual curiosity to learn about new systems and new research. This also means I’m quickly adaptable to whatever your unique food styles and needs may be. ...Keen attention to detail and a striving toward excellence and beauty, which minimizes the possibility of cross-contamination (when necessary) and informs the place from which I create beauty for your delight, nourishment, and joy. ...Personal experience with a vast array of food cultures, gained through experimental cooking, local food tourism, and extensive travel through the years. That means I’m comfortable with numerous flavor profiles and plenty of experience to draw from. ...Collaborative in my work, so I work closely with clients and seek feedback in fun, intuitive, and not-too-tedious ways. Consistently nourishing you is my priority! ...Social justice work around food, corporate transparency, and access. I don’t take access to food for granted. I approach it with care, reverence, and strive to waste not. A few other things about me: I’m originally Ukrainian and feel very connected to my ancestors, so I love the idea of ancestral diets and connecting to them. But I also love to explore, and my current absolute favorite flavor profile happens to be traditional Japanese and umami-centric. In honor of different learning styles, I’m currently working on a project that takes traditional text-based recipes and turns them into simple, accessible (and practical) works of art! Perhaps there will be a cookbook of some kind to follow one day... I’ve had plenty of experience being a busy person who values wellness and struggles to eat in a way that helps me embody that. I also know what it means to be busy while valuing health and wellness and struggling with Executive Functioning challenges. AND I know what it’s like to deal with all those things and have unique food needs, and how that can impact your approach to and relationship with food. Some or all of these may be your challenges, but—even if they are not—I want you to know that I strive to create a safe space where all different challenges, needs, curiosities, and desires around food are welcome. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with some information about who you are and what you’re looking for. And any questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you!
