The Yakima Air Terminal needs a maintenance specialist to work 4:30 PM – 1:00 PM. Must be available to respond in the evenings and on weekends in the event of emergency. This position performs technical work in the mechanical and custodial operation of the Yakima Air Terminal to assure all aspects of airfield maintenance are upheld to Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and Yakima Air Terminal (YAT) standards. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the performance, operation, maintenance and repairs of electrical equipment, cooling and heating equipment, restroom facilities, and landscaped areas. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and two (2) years related experience and/or training in heavy equipment operations and/or mechanical maintenance. Experience in an airport, aviation or airfield environment is preferred. Ability to read, write and speak English fluently to effectively communicate to groups of customers or employees. Must be able to interpret documents such as safety rules, regulations, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal; compute rates, ratio, and percent; and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Must successfully pass criminal background check; employment history verification and obtain and maintain a Secure Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge. Must obtain and maintain an airport movement area drivers permit within 30 days from date of hire. LICENSES, REGISTRATION & CERTIFICATES: Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license. Must be trained and certified annually as applicable in Airport Certification Manual (ACM) as required by Federal Aviation Administration.
