Main Purpose of Role The main purpose of the Assembly Technician is to assemble hoses in a timely fashion to ensure the assembly process meets customer required ship dates. The Assembly Technician will be responsible for selecting jobs by date and priority, read job cards and ensure the correct parts are pulled for the assembly. Assemble hoses following documented instructions and the job card to ensure assemblies meets customer specifications. The role will also support the product test and packing stations, testing finished products and packing them for shipment to customers. The role will also require working with the Quality/EHS department for product quality, returned product investigations, and maintaining quality and EHS requirements. Along with helping to drive continuous department improvements. Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Picking Select the next job to be picked by date and priority Pick the parts needed for the job following the paperwork provided Assembly • Pull all material for hose orders from the warehouse inventory following the warehouse processes for order picking and shipment of product • Operate various hand and power tools and shop equipment such as cutoff saws, crimp presses, and measuring devices for close tolerance measurements, and hose assembly equipment. Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks. • Inspect all hoses to insure they meet all quality requirements and manufactures specs • Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly fashion. Detect and report equipment malfunctions, unusual situations or other problems to the supervisor. • Follow all safety rules, regulations and practices • Work with the customer service team on any order issues Packing • Bag, Label and Pack product for shipment to customer • Make sure packing will maintain the product quality during shipment • Complete any paperwork required as part of the packing and shipment process • Use of a machines to make packing material Product Testing • Test finished product and complete any required paperwork. • Report any test failures Process control • Work as part of team • Follow processes and procedures • Report any order non-conformities, and assist with the resolution • Attend production meetings • Perform cycle counts • Report low stock levels • Maintain tools /equipment • Request consumables • Assist with Waste control, and shop cleaning Quality/EHS • Comply to all company health and safety requirements, and follow ISO procedures • Work with the quality manager on any product quality issues, or process changes required • Assist in driving continuous improvement • Make sure all correct PPE is worn/used and the process meet safety requirements. Basic Qualifications • Related proven experience. • Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe PDF. • Oral and written English communication skills required to communicate with internal departments by phone, email, and in person. • Proven production control and a can-do attitude for supporting customers and internal departments. • Attention to detail • Use of hand tools and ability to measure length accurately • Able to learn new tasks quickly with training • Ability to multitask and work as a team member, and ask questions to obtain required output. • Self-time management. • Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced environment. • Proven ability to identify and resolve problems independently and take appropriate action in a timely manner. • Functional knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics ERP software a plus.
