I recently adopted this approximately 1.5 year old shepherd mix. He's a really good boy, very gentle, not destructive, walks good on a leash, and is very food motivated. Unfortunately, his food motivation causes him to be in need of a home where he can be the only pet and this is why he doesn't work for my home. I was not told of his aggression towards other animals when food is involved before I adopted him and was told he would do fine in a home with cats, as he paid no attention to them, and other dogs if they met first and got along well. He's been lunging, barking, and nipping at my cats causing me to have to keep them in another room and today he lashed out at my Chihuahua because they both got new chews, even though she was across the room. I really do believe he's a good boy and a good dog for the right person. I originally wanted him because I live in a sketchy neighborhood by myself and I wanted a feeling of protection, which he provided in no time. Once he knows you, he loves you, and he will be a wonderful protector of you. I will be asking a small rehoming fee to make sure he goes somewhere that will be his forever home. And I will require that that home has NO OTHER PETS.
