Dan Asher (bass), Koby Hayon (guitar/oud), and Nadav Snir-Zelniker (drums/percussion), each a sensitive player in his own right, create an innovative richness of sound that both honors the musicians’ homelands and pushes the boundaries of modern jazz. "KaN" is the Hebrew word for "Here". The group performs regularly in the tri-state area at a variety of venues/festivals/music series. Nadav Snir-Zelniker – Drums Born in Israel in 1974, Nadav started playing drums at the age of 16. Soon he became involved with the local Israeli music scene, playing and recording with different Rock & Jazz artists. Throughout these years Nadav has absorbed elements and flavors of the local Mediterranean-music traditions. In 1999, after receiving several honorary scholarships, such as the America-Israel Cultural Foundation and the Ulledorff Foundation, Nadav was able to move to the US and got his BFA degree in music performance from the Conservatory of Music at SUNY-Purchase College, studying under drumming legends Adam Nussbaum and John Riley. Soon after his arrival in New York, Nadav became highly involved with the local music scene. His versatility enabled him to perform & record with artists from different genres: Jazz, Rock, Jewish/Middle-Eastern, Modern Dance, etc. He has performed on major venues such as Carnegie Hall – Zenkel Hall, Symphony Space, Lincoln Center, Blue Note, Birdland, Iridium, and many more. His debut CD “Thinking Out Loud” was released in July 2010. For the past 8 years, Nadav has been co-leading the Israeli ensemble “Trio Shalva”, devoted to exploring Jazz and traditional music of the Mediterranean. In 2011 the group released its first album “Riding Alone” and in 2013, its second album - “Breeza”. He is currently a member of several jazz groups in the NY Metropolitan: Neil Alexander’s NAIL, The Burr Johnson Band, Rob Duguay’s “Songevity” and Tim Ouimette's Arts on the Lake 10-piece-jazz-ensemble. In addition to his busy schedule as a performer/sideman, Nadav has been involved with music education, offering rhythm workshops to a variety of audiences both young and adult. Koby Hayon - Guitar, Oud, and Bass Koby Hayon is a world-renowned multi-instrumentalist and composer based in New York who plays Guitar, Oud, and Bass with the internationally acclaimed Trio Shalva. Born and raised in Jerusalem, Israel, Hayon studied at the Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in Tel Aviv, where he gained experience as a guitarist with the DGK Trio, Hulon Big Band, and many other notable groups. In 2001, Hayon moved to the United States, where he earned his BFA in Jazz Performance at SUNY Purchase. A recipient of the Ullendorff Memorial Foundation Scholarship there, he studied with jazz greats John Abercrombie, Hal Galper, Todd Coolman, and Jon Faddis. Hayon has since played in a number of venues throughout the United States and abroad as the leader of a jazz trio, duo, and quartet. His renditions of jazz standards as well as his own compositions have earned him acclaim along with several weekly gigs in the New York area. Dan Asher -Bass Dan Asher has been busy performing and teaching in the New York area since 2001. His active schedule has included performances at legendary venues such as Birdland, the Blue Note, Smalls, and the 55 Bar, covering a wide range of music, mainly Rock, R&B, Jazz and what some people might call “fusion”. He works with numerous singers and songwriters, performing at venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, The Living Room, and The Bowery Poetry Club, which showcase some of the greatest up-and-coming talents in New York City. As an in-demand sideman, he performs and records regularly with projects involving members of Screaming Headless Torsos, Snarky Puppy, the Mahavishnu Orchestra, and many others, while also keeping active in NYC’s unparalleled musical theater community. A regular performer at the world-famous Baz Bar in St. Barth, he has performed most recently with Jimmy Buffett as well as legendary keyboardists David Bryan and Jay Oliver. He currently lives in the Bronx and continues to rack up as busy a schedule as possible, wearing out brake pads, blowing head gaskets, napping at highway rest stops, and somehow always coming to the conclusion that it’s all worth it. We're sorry, there are no refunds after tickets have been purchased. In the event of rain or other forms of weather which prohibits an outdoor performance, the rain date performance will be held on the Sunday of that week. If the rain date becomes postponed because of weather or band availability, a future alternate date will be picked.
