Description
The in-person community planning and design roundtables allow Aurora residents to shape the future Aurora Community Health Commons. The community planning and design roundtable series will be a chance for residents to inform decisions about features and programs at the ACHC that address challenges and bolster strengths in their community. Each Roundtable will build upon findings and input from the one prior so that, by the end of the Roundtable series, the design team will be able to prepare site plan options drawing on information from all of the previous activities. Site plan options will be shared to and vetted with the community to arrive at a final site plan. During roundtable #3, attendees will generate new ideas for programs and amenities that contribute to solving challenges identified through previous community identity activities. In groups, attendees will begin to build consensus and prioritize among select program and amenity options for the ACHC site. During roundtable #3, attendees will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite out of 4 community-informed logo concepts for the project. Participants who are able to attend at six out of eight sessions will be compensated for their time. Please RSVP to every Roundtable that you are able to attend! The Aurora Community Health Commons or ACHC (interim name) is a partnership between the CU Anschutz Medical Campus, Salud Family Health Centers (a federally qualified health center), and the Aurora community. It will be situated on a now vacant 27-acre parcel of land at the intersection of Colfax Ave. and Airport Blvd., in the Laredo Highline neighborhood of Northeast Aurora on the tribal lands of the Ute, Cheyenne, and Arapahoe indigenous peoples. The project aims to promote the health, wealth, and overall well-being of Aurora residents. ACHC will achieve this by collaborating with the community to create coordinated, comprehensive, and equal opportunities for individuals, families, and communities in Aurora to thrive. The ACHC’s holistic approach will focus on the intersections of integrated clinical care, affordable housing with a pathway to ownership, food security, early childhood education, and workforce/economic development.
