Rock needs a revival.

Introduction Rock and Roll has been dead for awhile, or a the very least it's terminal (same with Punk and Heavy Metal for that matter). In my opinion, Rock as a genera has collapsed under its bloat, leaving us the steaming pile of post grunge of the 2000's and the over-produced pop punk of the 2010's. Now, what do we have? Twenty One Pilots and Imagine Dragons? Or the thousands of equally over-produced metal bands? No thank you. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of excellent rock bands from the 70's through the 90's still on the tour circuit. Every now and then a band like Ghost, The Sword or Greta Van Fleet emerge to knock your socks off, but for the most part I'm hearing heavily produced electronic based music that quite frankly, I don't care for at all. That all being said, I understand that music and culture changes. It's easy to look to the past and say "Music was better then". Sure, maybe I'm not giving mumble rap enough credit for its sensational musicality and groundbreaking ideas, but you know what, I'm okay with that. Either way, that's my cynical opinion on the current state of music, particularly Rock. There is a reason why I've outline my position and you'll find out more below, so keep reading. What we're looking for: With all of that out of the way. It's the sorry state of music today that serves as the inspiration for this project. I'm looking for other like minded musicians who want to breath some life back into rock music. I want to write and play music that I would want to listen to....and I hope you, dear reader, want to do the same. I am a multi-instrumentalist, however for this project I'll be playing rhythm guitar and singing lead vocals. My best buddy is on drums. I need a lead guitarist (although I will play some lead parts) and a bassist. I'm not opposed to a keys and synth player either. Some vocal ability would be a big plus. I also have no preference on gender....if you're cool, have some talent and want to play some Rock and Roll, thats all the matters. As far as age is concerned, I'm in my very early 30's, so anyone from their mid-twenties to mid 40's is welcome. A few disclaimers. 1. If your favorite bands include Five Finger Death Punch and Buckcherry, this project isn't for you. 2. If you are only interested in some obscure minor genera and your main influences include underground bands that no one has heard of this band isn't for you. 3. If John Mayer and Dave Matthews are your heroes, this band isn't for you. 4. I'm building this project from the ground up. I want this to be relaxed, organic and lo fi. You don't need to have the skill level of Steve Vai or Neil Pert to be in the band. A little bit of talent, musicality and a good attitude go a long way. 5. I fully expect everyone to have careers and personal lives....since I'm in my early 30's, this isn't going to be a "tour the country in a van" kind of band. We don't live in that kind of world anymore. We will practice semi reguarly, write some music, play some gigs, record a record or two and if we are any good, we'll get noticed. If we aren't, well then at least we had fun. Musical Direction and Influences: As noted above, I want this to be a very organic process. I'm influenced by many genres of rock, punk and heavy metal and I think that once we have the band together we can both find our sound and write what sounds good. Where we start and where we might end up may be two entirely different places and I'm looking forward to the process. If I'm forced to give you an example of the direction we're headed in right now.... I'm thinking a Hard Rock, Alt, Grunge revival type outfit....not unlike Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age or the Eagles of Death Metal. Shit, who knows, maybe we'll just do some Doom Metal? Here is a list of the Rock and Roll, Alt Rock and Heavy Metal bands the most influence us: -Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters, Eagles of Death Metal, Smashing Pumpkins, Mastodon, Them Crooked Vultures, Blur, The Pixies, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Ghost, The Cranberries, R.E.M, Cake, Tool, Against Me!, The Strokes, Weezer, Stone Temple Pilots, Sonic Youth, Kyuss, Deftones, Incubus, Van Halen, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Screaming Trees, The Smiths, Cocteau Twins, Rainbow, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath, W.A.S.P., Creedence Clearwater Revival, Molly Hatchet, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Yes, Uriah Heap, Led Zeppelin, Motley Crue, Cream, The Police, Rush, Nazareth, Dio, Frank Zappa, David Bowie, KISS, Motörhead, The Rolling Stones, Kansas, Thin Lizzy, Blue Oyster Cult and many more. So, if you've made it this far and you're interested, send me an e-mail and lets talk business. Look forward to hearing from you. TL;DR Music sucks in 2021. Let's write the Rock and Roll music that we'd want to listen to. Need a Bassist and Lead Guitarist. Building it from the ground up, you don't need to be virtuoso. I want this to be an organic and low pressure environment/project. E-mail me if interested!
