Come out and party with a purpose! Enjoy an evening of fun with Rum Punch, Jamaican Food, and Reggae Music This event is a fundraiser to support our mission work in Negril and Kingston Jamaica. Proceeds will be used to purchase needed supplies such as books, e-readers, school supplies, toiletries, food and more for the women and girls of impoverished communities in Jamaica. Collaboration Over Competition is a women’s empowerment organization dedicated to assisting women with reaching their personal and professional goals. We provide coaching, host networking events and support women as they look to manifest their dreams. We are available to speak at events, conduct corporate workshops and provide one to one coaching. Krishna Garlic and Cheryl Adur-Rahman are the Chief Collaborators and have a wide array of experiences. In addition to a sound educational foundation, Krishna has a diverse employment history which includes nonprofit management and public administration in municipal and state government. As Director of Health and Human Services for over eight years Krishna has maintained and developed numerous public health initiatives throughout the city. She holds a Juris Doctor degree from Roger Williams School of Law and an undergraduate degree from Hampton University where she majored in Psychology and minored in English. During the past decade Krishna has traveled across the country lecturing on many issues including; nonprofit management, foreclosure strategies, and community organizing. In 2017 and again in 2019 she was invited to Kitami, Japan as a guest of the Mayor to discuss with governmental officials, medical professionals and business owner’s new trends in the public health sector and how to address and build international partnerships to address local issues. Cheryl Abdur-Rahman graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Administration with a concentration in Health Management. She later obtained a Master’s Degree in Public Service Leadership from Thomas Edison University. Cheryl currently is the Health Educator for a large local municipality where her responsibilities include assessing the needs of individuals and the community, collecting data and discussing the impact of health disparities on individuals and communities. Cheryl is a Certified Diabetes Peer Educator and also a facilitator of numerous support groups to include caregivers support. She is a member of the New Jersey Society of Public Health Education and a lifestyle coach for the Gateway Family YMCA. She is committed to promoting physical health and is currently a Certified Spin Instructor and avid cyclist. Cheryl believes that the overall health of a community begins with the physical health and she is dedicated to helping others reach their personal health goals. Both Krishna and Cheryl have worked with countless women helping them to identify and achieve emotional and physical health and wellness, as well as career and business development. Through Collaboration Over Competition, Krishna and Cheryl have provided one to one coaching, corporate and informal workshops, mixers, and intense women’s retreats, that help women reach their personal and professional goals. Women attending a Collaboration Over Competition event will be exposed to new experiences, unique venues, and create great memories with other progressive like-minded women. Goals will be defined and realized. Lifetime relationships will be forged. Our belief is that when we stand together we are stronger, more focused, more optimistic, confident and successful.
