Description
The Cemeteries and Mortuaries of the Archdiocese of LA invite patrons and the public to a Rosary prayer and veneration of the images The Cemeteries and Mortuaries of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles invite patrons and the public to a Rosary prayer and veneration of the images of Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Juan Diego at Santa Clara Cemetery and Mortuary in Oxnard (2370 N. H. Street, Oxnard, CA 93036) on Saturday, Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The cemetery will once again feature a 16-ft. cross made of 4800 marigolds. The cross has become the centerpiece of the celebration at Santa Clara Cemetery, serving as a reminder of the meaning of the Day of the Dead/All Souls Day as a celebration of life and the promise of the Resurrection. Rosaries will be distributed for those who would like to join the Rosary prayer at 2 p.m. inside the cemetery’s chapel, where the images will be on display for viewing and veneration. There will also be a photo booth outside the chapel from 12 p.m. (noon) until 3 p.m., for families of the departed to take a photo as a memory of the day. The images’ visit is part of the Ventura County portion of the Pilgrimage of the images of Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Juan Diego that kicked off mid-October at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, followed by a special visit to St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish in Catalina Island. The images’ journey to parishes and cemeteries throughout the tri-county Archdiocese of Los Angeles serves as spiritual preparation for the faithful leading up to the 90th Procession and Mass honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe on Dec. 5, which is the oldest religious procession in Los Angeles.
