We are pleased to welcome internationally known pianist Katya Grineva, the only female solo pianist who has played Carnegie Hall 19 seasons. Katya Grineva, a romantic pianist, has performed throughout the United States and around the world. She is the only female solo pianist who has played New York City’s Carnegie Hall for 19 seasons (and is preparing for her 20th season this December). Katya is well known to Bay Area audiences and has played at many local venues, including Davies Symphony Hall, Montalvo Arts Center, the Foothill Club, Palo Alto Women’s Club, and the Rotary Club of San Jose. Born in Moscow, Katya studied piano at the Moscow Music School, and then the School of Music at the Moscow Conservatory, where she studied with Professor Pavel Messner. Katya has acquired a reputation as a pianist of exceptional romantic/poetic expression. Commentators agree that Katya achieves her impact at the piano more through subtlety rather than by force. Above all, she values the beauty of tone. She stresses a suppleness and a natural approach to the keyboard. She has released nine CDs, the latest one being a 2 CD set of all Chopin Nocturnes.
